Default 2024 Summer Olympics — Women's soccer
The 2024 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad) will be held in Paris during the last week of July and first week of August. Association football (soccer) has a long tradition at the Olympic Games, with a men's soccer competition being held at every modern Summer Olympics except 1896 and 1932. The women's tournament was added at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, and it has been held in every Summer Olympics since. Unlike the men's tournament, which is largely restricted to the U-23 teams, the women's tournament involves the full national teams. Canada is the defending gold medalist, after defeating Sweden (who failed to qualify) three years ago in Tokyo.

To clarify, this is for the women's tournament only. The men's tournament will be in a separate thread.

There are 12 teams in this tournament, divided into three groups of four teams each. You will pick the top-two teams in each group, along with the two best third-place teams, to advance to the quarterfinals. It proceeds as a knockout tournament from there. The point structure is 1-1-2-4.

This contest is part of the 2023-24 Legion Cup. It is also part of the 2023-24 Football/Soccer Cup and 2024 Olympic Cup. The winner will receive 2 slot-equivalents.

For those of you following the Games, this starts the day before the opening ceremony, so pay close attention to the start date.

Here are the groups and start times (all on July 25):

Group A (10 AM):
  • France
  • Colombia
  • Canada
  • New Zealand

Group B (12 PM):
  • United States
  • Zambia
  • Germany
  • Australia

Group C (10 AM):
  • Spain
  • Japan
  • Nigeria
  • Brazil

Again, you'll pick the top-two teams in each group, as well as two third-place teams, to advance for 1 point each. Good luck!
