Study Advice
Ave Legionnaires and allies
 Im not a young teen who is beginning his education in fact im a 25 year old man. Through high school and college the path I chose in the irish education system was very practical and required a lot more work and getting signatures and writing "task reports" as opposed to a hard academical graft. Im now at a stage where i require to sit and pass 10 academical exams while i have already dealt with 6 of them...4 are outstanding and i have failed each of them a couple of times in my country its possible to re-sit without penalty in our system. What im getting at here is because of the path i chose i never aquired or practised study skills and techniques. When i sit down to study i get very overwhelmed with the amount i have to do and this causes me to only be able to sit for an hour at a time. I have tried eating well and getting plenty of sleep however always the result is the same....restlessness and inability to concentrate on the tasks at hand and find my mind constantly wandering. I realise there isnt much anyone here can do for me and i will need to accomplish all this myself which of course i understand. I just wonder if any of you who have been through 3rd level education yourselves have any study advice/guidance/tips for someone who is struggling to get a routine and improve their study techniques. ?

Set low goals for yourself, and make plenty of them. An example would be, read 10 pages, or 10 practice questions or whatever it might be. By setting a bunch of low goals, instead of one high(which in your case prob would be to finish the book) you'll constantly feel like you're achieving something, and that'll motivate you do keep going.
Also an idea could be to visualize your goals in something like Excel. Writing goals down on "paper" motivates you to complete the task, and get that ever sweet green check mark. Also: A 1 hour study session is pretty good if you're actually learning something. Remember to study smart and efficient, rather than just studying and not really learning dick. Regular breaks, staying hydrated, stretching your legs and getting some fresh air are all equally important as the actual act of studying.

Freddie has some good ideas. Take one topic at a time. A different time of day may be better for you. When I would "cram" study in college I could stay awake for 24 hrs but I would be jittery and collapse later. I don't recommend that. Instead take it easy. If what you're doing is not adding to what you have already Mastered (e.g. having to read the same page several times) move on. I like to study with one distraction ambient in the background, like a radio. Lots of luck!

Incorporate what you have to study into something that you want to study.
For example, if you are studying math and you like beer, how many pints are in a keg. If you have drank 27 pints, how many are left? Would you trade 38 pints for a firkin? If you are studying psychology and you like women, what pick up lines would work best and why? If you are studying anatomy …. well, you get the idea.

Another approach altogether: You could chemically improve your "cognitive performance" on a temporary basis while you study. Caffeine or a caffeine and theanine combo are legal possibilities that come to mind. Methylphenidate (e.g. Ritalin) can be helpful if you know someone that could give you some.

Anyways, don't allow other distractions in your immediate environment. Jerking off, of course, is optional. Also, omg Ritalin is good shit. It keeps you focused.
