I know this is news and the coverage will be salacious but it is overall meaning less and will be forgotten in a month.

Remember the Panama Papers dropped in 2016, the Paradise Papers in 2017, and now the Pandora Papers. As a collective we will say mean things and feign outrage but ultimately no one really cares to hold anyone accountable.

That leak mostly revealed tax avoidance, which is 100% legal.

In Canada for instance, despite some anti-avoidance rules having been introduced over the years in the Income Tax Act, the general rule is still the one the Law Lords introduced in 1936:

Every man is entitled, if he can, to order his affairs so that the tax attaching under the appropriate Acts is less than it otherwise would be. If he succeeds in ordering them so as to secure this result, then, however unappreciative the Commissioners of Inland Revenue or his fellow tax-payers may be of his ingenuity, he cannot be compelled to pay an increased tax.

The only way to stop this would be for the world to elect governments that have an interest in stopping this. In Canada, that may mean NDP. In the US, god help them, that means Sanders.
