Nation History: The People's Republic of Tidewater

Following the conclusion of the US-ACMF War of 2002-2006, and the total collapse of the United States in 2006, the people in the former USA were left without hope. The enemy coalition had launched a large amount of nuclear weapons at the US, and tied with a seaborne invasion of both the East and West Coasts, the nation was almost completely destroyed. In the months following the last day of the war, the survivors of the US held on.
All across the US, there were small bastions of survivors holed up in ruined towns and cities that were not direct targets, sometimes building their own settlements using whatever they could find. But for these people, the wastelands were dangerous. The radiation fueled feral mutants had made parts of major cities into uninhabitable ghost towns, roving bandits made up of convicts and criminals were a daily threat to the settlements, as were the very large and well armed forces of the enemy's landing forces, now stranded with no way of returning home.

Many settlements tried to get help from the remains of the government, but with the President, most of Congress, and the Supreme Court either dead or wandering the ruins of Washington D.C. as feral mutants, there was no help at the federal level. State governments were trying their best to help, but most ended up folding as well due to severe damage to the major damage and destruction of most of the states' infrastructure and cities., and the lack of any real political power controlling the people. Those who tried to get military support from the US military's combined survivors were met with disappointment, as the military was not interested in helping anyone they claimed was "tainted" by the fallout, preferring to hole up in surviving military bases and try to hold onto what little remained of the United States of America. Additionally, many soldiers simply left, returning to their home states to try and find their families, further weakening the already badly battered US military remnants. Many small communities tried to band together and raise militias, but the ill-equipped and poorly trained militias could barely hold off attacks by the mutants and bandits, let alone the massive number of stranded ACMF soldiers with military training and firepower. Many were killed during the harsh winter of 2006-2007, as the collapse of infrastructure around the former USA caused power failures and cut off people from other settlements.

Almost a year after the war's end, a small group of people in rural North Carolina banded together under the yellow and black banner of a new militia. Naming themselves the Civilian Defense Front, or CDF for short, and outfitting their members with red shirts and yellow armbands with the image of a black gasmask, the CDF set about uniting settlements under their protection. Using whatever could be scavenged from the wastelands or from the dead of their enemies, the CDF were able to unite many settlements and even construct new ones of their own. By not forcing settlements to join them, but instead offering trade and supplies, the CDF were able to maintain peace with the other growing nations that sprung up in the .
Almost 10 years after the end of the war, the leaders of the various settlements and the CDF met together in the largest and newest settlement in the CDF's protection, New Atlanta, and drew up the Declaration of Unification and Independence, which established the People's Republic of Tidewater in the old state of Georgia, and extending south to Florida's old capital of Tallahassee. Establishing the capital as New Atlanta, the founders then declared the CDF as the official PRT military, which allowed them to jump from a ragged militia to a well-equipped military force. The People's Republic of Tidewater has since been a growing nation, with prosperity and a strong economy ensuring that the people do not have to live in fear anymore.

In a rare inversion of the name "The People's Republic" The PRT is actually a citizen run republic, although several other nations are skeptical of the claim, declaring that the PRT is nothing more than a communist nation in disguise.

-For the most part, Tidewater has no disputes with the other nations sharing North America. However, they do occasionally have issues with roving bandits not connected to other nations attacking PRT towns along its borders.

-The official national anthem of Tidewater is "My Country tis of Thee", which was chosen to honor Tidewater's commitment as a nation dedicated to liberty and unification.

-The national bird is the Mississippi Kite, and the national flag is the "Bonnie Blue", a royal blue banner with a single white star in the center.

-For those who don't recognize the names used, the nation of Tidewater comes from the Roblox RPG "After the Flash" which is set in a post-nuclear war USA. ATF 6 is the game where The People's Republic of Tidewater is founded. The ACMF is an acronym standing for Asian Combined Military Forces, which is a coalition of Asian nations that also comes from ATF.
