A poem that I think is half decent.

Funeral March

Silent music plays, unheard, yet heard still..

Playing softly-rippling through the ocean of black.

The brown coffin, wooden, the silent sea parting for it

to be carried through, crystal rain pattering against its frame.

A sob-quiet at first-before it too ripples through the crowd

like droplets in the pond.

The coffin stops-sinks-lower and lower into the grave

blending-the rain darkened brown on the rain darkened earth.

The song builds, violins rising, as the holy man speaks-

drowned-by the mourning sea around him.

A cross-white-shines out of the grave, as the broken, wet earth rains on it.

The songs crescendo reaches its apex-the violins and pianos peaking

in every mind, in every beating heart.

Then, the diminuendo-the music-fading-

the last sparkle of the moonlight cross, blackened.

Rain continues to pour-like liquid crystal it is, into the silken sea of black.

Soon, the sea fades, as does the rain

as not the earth nor the heavens

have tears yet to shed.
