Ongoing: 2023-24 Legion Cup

The 2023-24 Legion Cup is the inaugural edition of the overall meta-contest for all Legion contests. Contested from August 2023 to August 2024, it is divided into an overall Legion Cup and five mini-cups (Global, North American, Football/Soccer, Basketball, and Olympics). The winner of the Legion Cup and each mini-cup will receive a to-be-determined prize.

Points structure

The points structure is as follows:

• A contest will award points for the Legion Cup to the top-5 finishers, in a (10-7-5-3-1) configuration.
• A contest will award points for each mini-cup (to which it has been allocated) to the top-3 finishers, in a (5-3-1) configuration.
• Any contest which either:
  • Awards a top prize of 3 or more slot equivalents, or
  • Has 10 or more participants,
  shall award double points for the Legion Cup and each mini-cup (to which it has been allocated).
• As an exception to these rules, the UEFA Champions League contest shall award double points for the Legion Cup and the Global and Football/Soccer mini-cups, and UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League contests shall each award (15-11-8-5-2) points to the Legion Cup and (8-5-2) points to each of the Global and Football/Soccer mini-cups.
• A single bonus point shall be awarded for the Legion Cup standings to the player(s) with the most correct picks (regardless of point value).

Here is a tentative schedule of contests during the 2023-24 Legion Cup season, along with their assigned mini-cups:

• August 25 - September 10: 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup (Global, Basketball)
• September 8 - October 28: 2023 (Men's) Rugby World Cup (Global)
• September 13 - October 18: 2023 WNBA Playoffs (North American, Basketball)
• 2nd week of September - early January: NFL Fantasy Football League (North American) (double points)
• September 19 - December 14: 2023-24 UEFA Champions, Europa, and Europa Conference League group stages (Global, Football/Soccer) (part of overall UEFA contests)
• October 3 - November 1: 2023 MLB Playoffs (baseball) (North American)
• October 5 - November 19: 2023 Cricket (ODI) World Cup (Global)
• October 25 - December 9: 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs (North American, Football/Soccer)
• November 3 - December 9: 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament (basketball) (North American, Basketball)
• December 15 - January 8: 2023-24 NCAA College Football Bowl Mania (North American)
• January 4 - May 25: 2023-24 (English) FA Cup (starting with third round proper) (Global, Football/Soccer)

Given that there are eight basketball contests on this calendar, I felt that it was appropriate to add a fifth mini-cup for basketball. The preceding two posts have been updated to reflect this change.
