Could someone explain the reputation system. For example, why does nobody have more than 10 rep?

Reputation is based upon positive or negative points that people rate your posts. You also gain rep for time registered and major post benchmarks. These also affect how many rep points you give to others.

Thank you. And it appears 10 is the cap, correct? If 10 people give you rep points, will that result in 10 rep for you, or is it less simple than that? I understand that there are other factors too, given your post, but I'm wondering how the gifted rep points affect the formula.

Also "Rep Power" is not your reputation itself. Rep Power is how many points you can affect other people's rep by.
