History Games
Today there was a great game played in my History 12 class called Diplomacy.
We were to roleplay nations in groups of 3, taking place in 1930's Europe. The idea is, we have to talk with other nations and reach agreements, hoping to reach the requirements of each action, in order to get a point. For example, if Britain were to oppose the occupation of Sudetenland, this action could only be played if France and the Soviet Union also oppose it. With their support, 1 point is awarded to all teams. However, if Germany did not demand for Sudetenland during the use of that action, the opposing teams gain no points. So in the end, whoever has the most points win. Also, you get bonus points for certain things. If team Germany starts World War II before round 10, that team gets 3 points. If Britain and France stop Germany's invasion of Poland, both treams get 2 points. The following teams are Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, I was picked at random to join the Team France! By the end of the day though (round 3), good progress was made. Britain, France, Italy, and the Soviet Union are currently in an alliance to oppose aggression in Europe! We even made full support for Austria's independence! Unfortunately, we weren't able to stop Italy's invasion of Ethiopia. So yeah, quite a fun game. It's gonna continue tomorrow, wish me luck!
