The fifth round was played this week. This round and going forward, there are no more replays. Here are the results:
  • Coventry City defeats Maidstone United, 5-0
  • Bournemouth vs. Leicester City defeats Bournemouth, 1-0 (after extra time)
  • Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United draw, 1-1 (Newcastle United advances on penalty kicks, 4-3)
  • Manchester City defeats Luton Town, 6-2
  • Chelsea defeats Leeds United, 3-2
  • Manchester United defeats Nottingham Forest, 1-0
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat Brighton & Hove Albion, 1-0
  • Liverpool defeats Southampton, 3-0
