The 47 Ronin Story

Has anyone read it or heard about it? I'm reading it right now and it's a tad bit better than I expected but still haven't gotten to the juice. I have 130 more pages to read and a simple 4 page theme response, or character analysis, essay to write by 12:00 Friday.

Is it the same as the story mentioned in the movie 'ronin'. If so i've heard of it but thats it.

I'm not sure, I can't even tell you what the story line is other than an offended Samurai master is executed and it appears his subjects or followers are plotting their revenge.

And that the Shogun is batshit crazy.

I'm pretty sure thats the gist of it. the name ronin i think means masterless. or at least that is what i took from it.

A 'rōnin'(rounin) (浪人?)[1] was a samurai with no lord or master during the feudal period (1185–1868) of Japan. A samurai became masterless from the death or fall of his master, or after the loss of his master's favor or privilege.
