Up until now, the United States has operated under a "fractional reserve" banking system. Banks have always been required to keep a small fraction of the money deposited with them for a reserve, but were allowed to loan out the rest...

But now it turns out that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke wants to completely eliminate minimum reserve requirements...

So is Bernanke actually proposing that banks should be allowed to have no reserves at all? That simply does not make any sense. But it is right there in black and white on the Federal Reserve's own website....

These people are out of their fucking minds. OUT OF THEIR MINDS! Banks can already leverage up 10-1.. 30-1 in some cases still. But this?? They can leverage to infinity! Its almost like the Feds *goal* is the economic collapse of this country.

The world's five biggest AAA rated states are all at risk of soaring debt costs and will have to implement austerity plans that threaten "social cohnesion", according to a report on sovereign debt by Moody's.

The US rating agency said the US, the UK, Germany, France, and Spain are walking a tightrope as they try to bring public finances under control without nipping recovery in the bud.
