Formula One Fantasy League Planning
Formula One is the highest level of motorsport in the world. Contested by a set of constructors (currently 10), each with 2 drivers (for a current total of 20), Formula One criss-crosses the globe, holding 24 races (known as Grands Prix) across five continents, with the Monaco Grand Prix on or around (US) Memorial Day weekend being the crown jewel of the calendar. Formula One comprises two World Championships: the Drivers' Championship and the Constructors' Championship.
The following is provisional and will be replaced later. I am making this thread to gauge interest in a fantasy-style league for the 2024 Formula One season, as well as solicit possible formats (either a forum-based competition or a free and reputable website that can facilitate a competition). The plan is that the contest would be split at the traditional summer break (around August), with the first "half" of the season being part of the 2023-24 Legion Cup and the second "half" belonging to the 2024-25 Legion Cup. Ideally, the contest would be structured such that there are multiple paths to a good score (e.g. there's a way to win other than just picking Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc, etc. every week). Ideas are wanted.

Not interested. As Lord Windmark said, keeping up with due dates for picks is an issue. If timely reminders are not given, I have a hard time keeping up with the numerous contests that currently exist.

If it alleviates your concerns at all, if we run a forum contest, this would be a "weekly pick optional" contest. You can pick one set of drivers and roll with them indefinitely, or change them from race-to-race. Hence the term "fantasy league".

I'm running the games right now, though I could use someone alongside me. Everything's been pushed into Google spreadsheets (as I usually do), so there's more training involved now in running these things. There may not be time to plan this contest at this point. I just found out the season starts next Saturday (March 2), which is much earlier than I was expecting. We still don't have a viable format, and I don't know if 5 days (qualifying is on Friday) will be enough time to devise a format and fairly pick drivers.

With no format finalized and qualifying for the Bahrain GP less than 24 hours away, a Formula One fantasy league will not make it to the 2023-24 Legion Cup calendar. This thread is now a planning thread for the format and/or external site for the contest/game, with a goal of having something finalized for after the summer break in August (and thus inclusion in the 2024-25 Legion Cup).
