2021 NHL Playoffs
This contest will run through the playoffs and include the Stanley Cup.
You will make predictions for one round at a time. You will earn points as follows: 1 point for each correct prediction in the first two rounds. 2 points for each correct prediction in the Conference Championship round. 4 points for predicting the winner of the Stanley Cup. The winner of the contest is the nation ruler with the most points at the end of the playoffs. The winner will receive his choice of 200 tech or 12 million (18 million) cash in CN or 10 million cash in PnW. The first round has the following match-ups: Toronto vs Montreal Edmonton vs Winnipeg Pittsburgh vs NY Islanders Washington vs Boston Hurricanes vs Predators Panthers vs Lightning Avalanche vs Blues Golden Knights vs Wild Your predictions are due tomorrow before the start of the Washington/Boston game for that series (tomorrow at 7:15 pm EDT) and before the start of the Pittsburgh vs NY Islanders game at noon EDT on Sunday for the remaining series. I have the Bruins for the series starting tonight.
Edit: Here are my remaining picks: The Maple Leafs are finally back, and they should advance easily, though that could be a jinx, as anything can happen in the NHL. The Oilers are awash in talent, but have underachieved over the past few seasons. They should be good enough for at least one round, though. This was a tough series to pick in this closely packed East Division, but I give the slight edge to the Penguins. The Carolina/Nashville series is a mismatch, and I'm taking the Hurricanes in a possible sweep. In an all-Florida match-up, the first in Stanley Cup playoff history, I give the advantage to the experience of the defending Cup champion Lightning. As much as it pains me to go against my hometown Blues, the smart pick is the Avalanche. I fear this won't be a long series, but I'll hope for the best. The upstart Golden Knights are now a perennial force. They'll get past the Wild.
