Best laptop for the buck, 2018
It's time to revive the topic- what is a good, cheapo laptop?
You Legion techno guys, help me out. There are a ton of new and refurb items on Amazon. I am not made of money. I have a very old Inspiron E1405 and it is literally falling apart. Time to take the old gal out and shoot her. Don't even mention HP. I bought one for the wife and she's still mad at me. Piece of crap. That said, I don't mind the idea of a super cheap item I can load a word processor on. I just need a good, reliable cheap workhorse and off brands are ok. Any thoughts?

Will you be doing anything more demanding than word processing or watching youtube on it?

I do a lot of writing and some CN-size games. Watching the occasional movie would be nice. I don't really need Alienware. A DVD drive is a good thing. When I get one I like, I tend to keep it a long time, run it into the ground.

The Search is over, FYI.
Acer Aspire V15 I know it isn't the most glamorous beast out there, but it is exactly what I needed. 12 GB memory, Intel Core i7, beautiful color and backlit keys. DVD player, etc, etc. I feel like I just invented warp drive. Happy Birthday to me!
