I've been slowly restoring an As.

From Augustus 16 BC

It's pretty rough but has good detail for being older then Christ. I picked it up for 20 bucks a few years back and over the years I've been slowly removing green crud on it and fixing the patina. Recently I took quite a bit off so it needs some time to recolor. Restored a bunch of the reverse legend (lettering) though.

Has Augustus on the front and S C on the back. S C stands for the Roman Senate. At that time Augustus was still pretending like the Senate mattered. Love it.

Crazy someone made it over 2000 years ago and it still exists. Minted in Rome no less. Hand molded and hammered out to spread the word of Rome and the power of the Emperor.
