The way to keep the sea levels from rising is simply to build a large wall around Greenland to keep the water in. Like a giant above-ground pool. We'll pay for it by opening the world's largest water park.

It would destroy the ocean? More like the coasts.

Much of the land under the Greenland ice sheet has been depressed so much as to be below sea level. You're proposing to siphon off all of that water? Ignoring the fact that it'd be economically infeasible, it would be an ecological disaster, not to mention the effects on research into past climates through the loss of ice cores.

Alaska has a wealth of natural resources, and it is a strategically located area for the US military. But Thule Air Base simply isn't quite as important to the US as the combination of Eielson and Elmendorf AFBs, Forts Richardson and Wainwright, and the multitude of NORAD radar sites.
