Legion Championship 9

The Legion Championship is the Legion's Official Football League. Now in it's Ninth season, it is run on xperteleven.com, where managers are able to buy new players, scout new talent, sack players, and fashion their club team to battle it out against the best the Legion has to offer.

Managers are able to select their team name, their player type, and each matchday - can edit tactics ranging from who their team captain is, to the plan of attack and defence along with the general team emphasis. Meant to be a complement to your CN nation, your team will have a home stadium somewhere within your own CyberNation - and thus, can provide role play opportunities for those who really, really want to do so.

Imperator's Cup

The Imperator's Cup is a tournament held every season in the Legion Championship. It is a two-legged, knockout cup which is seeded, and its matchdays are on Wednesdays.

Teams play each other twice, once at home and once away from home. After both games have been played, the total number of goals scored by each team is added together and this 'aggregate' score determines who progresses.

If both teams score the same amount of goals, the team that scored the most goals away from home will progress. If these numbers are the same (such as 0-0, 0-0) then the game will proceed to extra time and if needed, penalty kicks.

Club Coefficient and Club Stats

A club coefficient is a new way to determine the 'best' team in the Legion Championship. Though not with any official standing, they are used to help assist people know who has been, historically, the best team in the league. The statistics required will begin to be collected from the pre-season of Season 8. This is also combined with other random stats of clubs that will begin to be collected this season.

New teams will begin with a co-efficient of 1000.

Club stats will now include cup tallies.

Working out the Club Coefficient

It is figured out by this complicated formula, related closely to the RL ELO system:

where, "P" is points, "K" is the weighting of the match, "G" is the goal difference factor, "R" is the result and "R(e)" is the expected result.

Each team starts off with 1000 points.

Working out 'K'

The status of the match is incorporated by the use of a weight constant. The weight is a constant regarding the "weight" or importance of a match, defined by which tournament the match is in, they are as follows:

Working out 'G'

The number of goals is taken into account by use of a goal difference index, between a winning team and a losing team. If a game is won by three or more goals, this other formula determines the 'G' value, where 'D' is the difference:

Working out 'R'

R is the result and is:

R = 1, for a win
R = 0.5, for a draw
R = 0 for a loss

Working out 'R(e)'

This is the expected result and is given by the following formula:

We shall define 'V' as the 'win expectancy' of the side, where 'd' is the difference in ratings. 'H' will be 2 for the team playing at home.

For a sample calculation (not including home advantage), for a 'd' of say, 5 - the higher ranked team would have a 'Win Expectancy' of 0.640 and the lower ranked team would have a 'Win Expectancy' of 0.360.

Now suppose the higher ranked team played at home, then the higher ranked team will have the obviously higher win expectancy of 0.691 and the lower team would have a 'Win Expectancy' of 0.309.
