Great Britain of Great Britain

Foreign Minister, 2006.12.16 - 2007.02.10
Proud Legion Member, 2006.01.31 - 2006.09.18, 2006.10.04 - 2007.04.10

When Great Britain became one of the early migrants from NationStates to the Cyberverse in late January 2006, he sought to locate a suitable alliance. To date, only a handful were in existence, and none suited his fancy. As a result, he formed the Legion on 31 January 2006 and became our president. From there, he appointed the interim Cabinet which would help him establish our alliance.

In the early days, the Legion coalesced around him, adopting principles of mutual defense and principled thought. This brought in many like-minded people who enhanced this thought, including Zunea, SocCarolina, Fonzoland, and others we enshrine in this Hall of Fame. Over time, the foundation he laid became a launching point for one of the Cyberverse's most prominent alliances. But for that to continue, GB would have to pay the ultimate price twice.

After the First Great War, the Legion was in need of friendly alliances to back her up. When the Legion considered Mutual Defense pacts with the NAAC and GATO, Great Britain admitted to using covert campaign tactics to skew the vote in favor. The cabinet reached consensus to make GB relinquish his root admin status or risk dismissal, also citing his puppet nation's membership in the ODN.

Both nations were eventually claimed by the inactivity bug, but Great Britain returned with a new nation to atone for the past and provide continued guidance to the Legion's future. Great Britain relinquished the root admin account, and weeks later, Prime Minister Zunea pardoned Great Britain.

This occurred as other alliances were facing problems with their founders. While some founders staged hostile coups against their alliance and vice versa, the way Great Britain and The Legion handled the situation truly exemplifies the character of both founder and his alliance. It was this character that prompted Great Britain to make the ultimate sacrifice on 10 April 2007, when he and VL resigned as part of the Legion's surrender agreement with the Initiative.

It is said that “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends.” Although Great Britain is sadly exiled from the alliance he created,we remember his sacrifices now and forever by immortalizing him in our Hall of Fame.

Unity is Strength. Ave Legio

What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth."
