COVID-19 (aka the coronavirus) has taken many lives, and the response by some jurisdictions (Florida, I'm looking at you) has been appalling. Gripe about the worst pandemic in a century here.

I feel like Polio was worse, but aside that, it has been horrible.
Here in Israel our government has been making constant mistakes.

First we allowed the super-religious to continue with huge groups of weddings, funerals, services, and studies. But then we at least closed down their neighborhoods so they can't infect the non-super-religious.

and then there was a point where we were almost done with it, maybe another two weeks of total quarantine and the government decided to open early. Which they had to because they weren't giving the unemployed money for rent and food.

and now Israel is like the US in saying "Fuck it". Bars, markets, restaurants, weddings, they're all open. So now everything is mostly open again and we have double to triple the cases from our worst peak.

Masks are still mandatory nearly everywhere, but it doesn;t matter much of restaurants or bars are open where you're without a mask by default.

That's how we were a month ago. If our PM bothered giving the unemployed minimum wage every month, we could have stuck with quarantine another month and likely fully destroyed it.

Or maybe not, the PM didn't exactly quarantine the aforementioned super-religious who ruined it for everyone. He should have sent soldiers to fuck them up, that would've gotten both calls for him being a dictator, but also like a lot of votes for standing up to them.

I really hate our religious parties.

Australia locked down early and hard. Got new cases down to 10's a day. Then we opened up again and well fuck...second wave. Our daily new cases are showing the beginning v.2.

Israel, Ireland and Australia all in one thread! If nothing else this game gives an opportunity to interact with people all over the world. That's awesome! Where I live in the States we have a lot of tourist. The numbers where going down, now I see cars from all over the country and people without masks. I feel as if there is going to be a spike in numbers. I don't like wearing a mask or all the other BS we have to do. However I have a lowered immune as well as my youngest son so do what I can.

Here in Military City USA (San Antonio), we hovered around 3k total cases until about a month ago. Now, we're well over 20k, and our hospitals are running out of room. We reopened way too quickly, and our elected officials at the state and federal levels are failing us. Trump in particular has the blood of thousands of COVID victims on his hands.

On a personal note, my mom's friend's husband was hospitalized due to COVID, but thankfully he's on the mend. Their daughter is a cancer survivor, but luckily she has her own place.

I'm from a shithole (Brazil) and we have a human trash (would like to use a worst definition, but I will leave it as that) as president, that is more worried about saving his sons from the hands of the Justice and keeping his electorate, so... I don't have much much to say. Just look at the numbers (we are already #2 in deaths).

Doesn't he also have Corona right now?
That aside, ignore the numbers. Obviously Brazil with its large population will have more deaths. Likely even larger if they could test or cared enough to test everyone.

If you set it per 1M population, then the US and Brazil aren't the worse so far.

France, Sweden, Span, and Italy did much worse until they started to get it under control.

In the US, we have about a quarter of the world's known COVID cases, but only around 4% of the world's total population. Our situation is dire here, but the President (who lies so much he makes a con artist look like a nun) would rather talk about the economy and largely unpopular (according to recent polling) positions on race.
