All excellent points by the side that says doing illegal things is probably not a great plan.

Not only will it likely be more trouble than it's worth, it's also a crime that could have serious repercussions. Like the music industry, I imagine they can't catch everyone, so they drop the hammer on the ones they do.

And despite the fact that stealing for non-necessities is generally vile as is, you aren't stealing from the company which might not really miss the money, you're stealing from random people, many of whom are probably much worse off than you.


Ruining someone else's Christmas is always a good idea.

Depends on how you do it. If its in-store, then thieves take pictures of the gift card numbers and check back to see when they are activated. If its just random generation, its working off the same principles but need to go through lots of numbers before you would get lucky.

And yes, a kiddie would get screwed.
