First thing I always do: Build a giant cross on my starting spot. Then, under it, I build a small shelter that has a chest where I keep extras of essentials for when I die.

No I waited till day time for the zombies to all explode, and then i went outside after about 60 seconds of pure light to get some ham cause my health was low and BAM a creeper exploded right next to me.
