Stirring a Pot
If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don’t care for human beings.” -Nelson Mandela 2002

Re: Stirring a Pot
People tend to forget that Winnie Mandela oversaw a few atrocities of her own. "Necklacing" was reputed to be a favorite of hers.
I like Archbishop Tutu much more (saw him speak in the US once). Though history will credit Mandela with two things: he stepped down and avoided becoming one of those "Dictator for life" figures Africa sees too often. Second, he steered S. Africa away from becoming another Zimbabwe, and thereby avoided a huge tragedy. But- The USA? No. Not compared to the bloodletting going on in many parts of the 3rd world.

Re: Stirring a Pot
Every country has a history of bloodshed and atrocities. The US is perhaps more documented than most, from manifest destiny, slavery, civil rights movements, nuclear strikes, vietnam war to iraq (twice, the latter clearly for reasons unsubstantiated), afghanistan, internment camps, NSA espionage and drone strikes...
There is also a lot of negative sentiment globally the US government and its people because of their continuing, self proclaimed role as the world police force.
