Been the victim of identity theft?! As of this morning, you can count me among the victims!
So, making my switch in Toledo last night I was at the truck stop and tried to use my debit card.. It was declined!
So.. I was all :icon_eek::ohrly::wai:
I get back this morning and check my bank account and there is over $500 of fraudulent transactions (4 seperate transactions). I was suprised to say the least... I've never had a problem... needless to say, I wont be using my debit card online anymore.

I've been lucky so far, but I'm willing to consider using my debit card to get those anywhere-gift-cards to do online purchases. At least my bank is very diligent about calling me when there is "suspicious activity" - like when I bought my Xbox 360, the first time I bought something after moving to Rockford, the time I dropped $150 at Barnes and Noble..... :)

That sucks Melidan. I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I try to be careful in the websites I purchase from, use PayPal, and limit use of my card out in public.

Everyone gets fraudulent charges these days. My mom's been a victim 3-4 times over the last two years. Its ridiculous.

Heh, to do online shopping, I use pre paid visa's. The only thing I put on my actual credit card is gas, and sometimes food.

Sorry to hear about that! I had it happen once, about $80 on one of my credit cards. Luckily it got reversed real easily.

Yeah, my mom's credit card number got stolen from DSW's database and went to spain. There was a thousand or so in fraudulent charges. They finally caught it when the guy tried to use it to buy food in spain.

Update on this... It seems that i'm not the only one who has fallen victim to these specific frauds in the past day or so..

VERY strange that all this happened in the last 24-48 hrs, and all of us were the victims of the same companies (Identity Protect, DRG Enterprises LLC and Click and Print London ON)
Funny thing about DRG Enterprises is they have a website (http://www.drgtemplates.com/) where they sell web site templetes, all of them costing $11.89. The same amount that was stolen from my checking account... I just had to laugh at that one, I guess I bought a web site design and didn't even know it :angry:
So... keep an eye on those bank statements folks..
