Illinois Governor Arrested on Corruption Charges (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2008/12/09/report-illinois-governor-taken-federal-custody/)
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested Tuesday morning in Chicago on two counts each of federal corruption charges stemming from allegations Blagojevich was trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.
This guy was a grade A scumbag.. And then to go and try to sell Obamas senate seat WHILE he was being investigated by the Feds! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

I'll say what I said in this very topic on the ML forums:
1) This does not surprise me one bit. When I was down there last year, we'd half-jokingly say that Blagojevich would nominate himself for Obama's Senate seat if he got the chance...
2) This is Illinois we're talking about, if he doesn't magically beat the charges (because all the evidence disappeared) he'll get a cushy job under God-Emperor Daley for a few years until people forget about his shenanigans, then come back in a House or Senate race.
But it is pretty funny. :D

But really, if he gets convicted on half of the crimes people think he's done, my grandkids will be able to vist him in jail.

Now all that's left is to charge Obama for something.

Ok shut the fuck up. This thread is not about Obama, it's about a corrupt Illinois Governor. If you don't have anything to say about it, gtfo.
I laughed, very hard that he tried to sell the seat while being investigated. That's Illinois for you, though. The Corporal is right, he'll probably get a job under Daley; the Daleys have run Chicago forever.

Obama is the new president elect, and the media coverage is twenty-four, seven. Better get used to hearing about Obama everywhere whether you think he's Christ incarnate, or the anti-Christ, and what you hear is going to be both pro and anti Obama, deal with it. (his name is still not in spellcheck yet <_< )
Back on topic: 4.5k bail sound pathetic to me too, I mean come on. There is a serious problem with the court that set his bail, might want to look into seeing if the judge is a buddy of his.

Apparently he got out of jail without even paying bail. Still has the charges, but still...
Oh well. Chicago will always be a cesspool of political corruption.

First Arb, you're so blatently republican that you saying you're independent made me roflmfao for about 10 minutes.
Second (and more on topic) something I find interesting is he the guy hasn't resigned as governor, so he can still appoint someone to the senate seat. That choice still has to be approved, but he can make the appointment.

Arb, petty insults aren't allowed in RL forum. Nor are good insults, for that matter...

Patrick Fitzgerald (the U.S. Attorney on the Blagojevich case) went to my high school. Therefore he is automatically awesome and will put Blago in a FPMITA Prison.

Not to sound crass, but would I expect someone with that sort of skill to be 'liquidated' by the Illinois Political Machine any day now...

Fitzgerald will tare him apart. He is not to be crossed ever, given that he's taken down mob bosses and also took down Ryan.
I think he should run for govenor in the next election because he could and would clean things up.
