Well, the main character dying pretty much always blows... But I don't think it was worth all the hype it was getting with people saying it was so much scarier or anything when in fact..it is not at all.

It gets even farther away from the storyline of the book than the movie already was, but it wasn't bad. I kinda liked it. I kinda liked the whole movie, for what it was. I felt the same way about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: fun for what it was, but doesn't hold a candle to the book.

The second one did. The reason I am Legend is there is because in the book Will Smith was relli the last person on earth and when he got killed by the vampires it takes in teh effect of humans as legends because they all died off and vampires ruled the world hence I Am Legend.

In the book, the some vampires maintained some semblance of intelligence (beyond what was shown in the movie) - they could still use language and tools, and really were only different from humans in that they like blood (they even got over the sunlight and everything). Neville, because he can't be infected and is the last surviving human, is something that the vampire civilization fears. Hence, his story becomes a legend to the people of the new world order.

The movie started really getting away from the book around the time the lady showed up. Originally, Neville sees her in a field and runs her down, brings her home, and feeds her (she looks human but when he tests her blood it is revealed she was a spy all along). From there, the movie is almost completely different in every way imaginable.
