Dammit, I posted in your other thread with the Warhammer 20K mini's. Lol! I have been interested in that game, but closest I could come in my old stomping grounds was a few decent Epic games. What units do you have built thus far?

I have (after a whole week of collecting):
The Black Reach Set (5 Terminator Assaults, 10 Tac Space Marines (split into 1 heavy weapons team and 1 general team, 1 Dreadnought, 1 Leader)
1 attack bike
1 Librarian/inquisitor/chaplain as required
1 Dark Angel Squad (inc one sergeant, one Champion, one apothocary)
About 900 ptsish.

I always found the Librarian and the Chaplains the most visually appealing units. Bikes always reminded me of the Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome movie done with an insane effects budget. :D
Get a couple Rhinos when you can to give the ground pounders some mobility. I think I'm probably biased towards the Space Marines due to my prior enlistment to the US Marines when I was younger. Have you done any games with those units yet, and what other races have you done battle for?

Funny you mention Rhinos. I was thinking of a Razorback which gives me some mobility and attack at the same time. Very much hoping for a hammer and anvil army. My shopping list (phase the one) is
Razorback
Landspeeder
Another Marine Squad
Sergeant on bike
Some Bikes
So far played two games. I vs Necrons which I lost mostly due to inexperience (Space marines laugh at bullets and don't need to run from cover to cover as I had them doing) and one mass Apocolypse game 6000pts (Space Marines + Tau) vs 5500 points (my side IG + Space Marines + Tau - The reasons for the battle must have been mucho complicated), which was a draw/tie. My marines got wiped by a outflanking unit of Sword veteran(?) in one turn as they all had power weapons. I wiped them and the Raider they turned up in with a Vortex grenade though (though since it was in the middle of our own troops much consternation was caused!)
It was a tie on objectives, they pretty much creamed us on soldiery with the Orbital laserlights the Tau player brought in.

I has.
50 standard space marines with bolters
40 'space wolf' space marines with bolt pistols and chain swords
30 heavy weapon space marines(assorted so can cover whatever)
2 big attack bikes
9 normal bikes
Chaplin on a bike
Full commands a few dark angels hooded ones too
Inquisitors lord and standard with flame pistol
Full customed retinue of 27(tho you may only take 9 at once)
30 sisters
10 crazy chainsword no armor people
15 crack addicts with flails
Like 3 of the sisters rhino conversions
A command person i never use forget the name lol
One of the sisters dreadnaughts with flamers and open face
80 standard guards
Some random guards needed to play a all troops guard section
I like fantasy more tho and have like 200goblins and 150orcs so like 5k points of 'core choice' on a swarm army hehe

oh about mobility you can 'drop pod' all your terminators and assault marines if needed but i dont advise dropping in assault marines as they the have to withstand a round of shooting and so get killed before attacking unlike terminators that have to be hit in the eye as its the only weak part of armor lol
bikes are good on flat ground but have a habit of crashing into terrain
remember if you and your enemy both have say 24' range then dont waste points on a rhino let them move to you and have 5 extra maries to shoot with, is very few things that will out range you enough to make a rhino worth it
landspeeders with extra assualt cannons are good fast and get to shoot off about 6 hits each so 2-3 can wipe out a squad with a good/average hand

Wow.. someone actually DOES play Warhammer. I've seen that stuff all over the place on different hobby shelves, but have never seen anyone actually buy the stuff or play that game. Meanwhile, it's much easier to locate the W20k gamer in the places I've lived.
I mentioned the Rhino because I haven't played in like 6-ish years and couldn't remember the name of the Razorbacks. :D The one and only W20K game I've watched was between two Space Marines units. Ultramarine and I *think* a Blood Angels chapter, could be wrong on that though. Had a friend that was trying to gather a Chaos army that was focused on Eldar and/or Marines, don't remember too much of that now.
I'd be interested in collecting some of the Sisters figurines. Damn, haven't painted mini's in many moons now. Lots of my old hobby stuffs was a victim of my last divorce.

oh yeah and get a bloodbowl team at 25quid for a starting team and then about 20quid more for all the extra players its really cheap and fun, some people go super cheap and buy a fantasy box set then cut the weapons off and stuff to make a team so for skaven a box of clan rats makes 20 players you just make sure the arms are up and down correct and that runners have capes or something
Iron Wolf

Damn.. I haven't seen a BloodBowl game in about 8 years either!

yeah i have been on and off collecting for like 7 years now, im getting more into the character based games than the army ones since i got goblins and had to paint 200 of them(like 150 still arent done its just to much of the same for my sanity lol)
oh and if anyone can work out a way of making fair dice rolls online then we can play bloodbowl on the forums with all the rules in pdf and moves in posts

slow tho lol 16 turns x 2 x 11 players so like 352 days maximum if its 1 player movement a day lol
but most turns you should be able to do more than 1 player at once its only if you wanted to double blitz someone or something its long
Iron Wolf

Figured it'd be painfully slow, lol :)

Warhammer is a tabletop modelling game which has branched off into novels and also games such as Dawn of War for the PC and a number of other games for the playstation etc.
What game is it you've got?

11-27-2008, 09:44 PM
well i asked my brother about it, but he seems to think im talking about something waay different, you guys can decide since you know more about it;
your this commander guy, and in battles your represented by a hand, and on the map there are troops (in groups) and you can click their flag (above the troops) and tell them where to go, and who to attack, and you have to defeat enemy troops, and every so often you would be represented by a head (mainly after battle) and you would be talking to your advisors and etc. etc. (only showing their heads)
i am pretty damned sure it is a warhammer game, but im not really positive, anyone play this game?

I play, imperial guard D:
Another Imperial Guard player, W00t!!!!
I've sadly been had an interest in the Imperial Guard since I was 9, I love the Ghaunt's Ghosts novels.
I currently have three 1600+ point armies for Imperial Guard; Catachan, Cadian, Steel Legion and I'm currently working on my Vostroyan army (a bitch to paint). I've spent over $4,000 on Warhammer overall. We don't have a Warhammer outlet anymore in town (went out of business this year) so I opened up my own semi-outlet in town. In all there are only about 30 Warhammer 40,000 tabletop players in town, but my outlet still gets really busy. I've spent around $600 on each of my five gaming tables and I rent them out on the weekdays for $10 a game.
Call me pathetic if you will ^_^

Dawn of War is the video game version of the tabletop game, with a few additions. It's just an RTS game, but they need to come out with another FPS that was like Fire Warrior. (Best game for the Playstation 2)
