Well now, we had some...ummm... stuff brewing in mah country, so my activity has dropped during those events.
I'd like to thank all of you who had send me PMs with good wishes.
I'm fine and ok, although I ate a shitload of tear gas :P

Polaris embassy is now open for buisness and I'll comence buttsecksing Toga again

Glad to hear you're okay. That was some...crazy stuff going on.

If I may make a suggestion, you can find gas masks and things online (www.cheaperthandirt.com, don't know if they ship to your neck of the woods though). For the yearly tear-gassing Halloween festivities in Madison, WI this year I got a mil-surplus gas mask originally from the Czech Republic for a decent price. The only downside is that my glasses don't quite fit in there. :( Of course, this year was the first in about 7 years that tear gas wasn't needed to clear the streets at 2 am, so I now have a military-grade gas mask sitting in my car...

Heh...I wasn't even near the embassy bloc, but since riots had started, cops showed up and I guess that our group looked kinda mean, so they shot tear gas at us. Then we went berserk coz they gased us for nothing, so we ripped couple of street signs and rammed them into their line (funny thing, they do look like legionnares with all those shields and formations). Then more cops came, more tear gas, more clashing (they form a line and chase us, then we brake the line and chase them). Eventually after an hour of brawl, we all realised that we are on the same side(lol) and since we didn't burned anything they have pulled back and let us go our way. I've even made a clip of me shaking hands with couple of them (oh the irony :P)...Although you can say that they won since we had 16 injured on our side and they had only 9 and one damaged humvee.
I realised that I miss days (when I was younger) when we used to go on soccer games and have decent clash with crowd control unit.
And I'm really glad that nobody from embassies got injured(they manged to pull out before mob stormed in).

That... actually sounds like fun. I'm serious.

I do not consider attacking Law Enforcement officials "fun" or acceptable.

I'm with Woody on this one. They aren't there to be your wrestling partner, they're there to keep people safe...if you see a line of riot police coming at you, gently move away and let them do their job. If there are riots going on, just stay at home (and spam the forum all day ;) ).

Have you considered the fact that they shot enough gas to make a stone cry before they even get close enough to tell us to gently move away? And they we were all emotional since the huge rally has just finished and our goverment officials held speeches about unlawfull occupation of our territory...And untill that point we didn't even drop a glass bottle on the ground, while some people in different parts of the city were burning embassies and looting stores.
And in the end we "made peace" with them and even took pictures together, so I guess that they didn't find it to be unacceptable. Further more they've let us go to train station unescorted, while they went to deal with real troublemakers.
So in the end, no hard feelings, couple of cracked heads and pics to remember...I call it a good visit to capital city :D
Oh, and they won so....

But you also have to understand that in situations such as that, a police officer cannot approach it with his/her normal attitude and mode of operation. When in a situation where you are greatly out numbered like that, the police have to go in with the mind set, not that Oh these are good guys, when in such a huge crowd, they go in with the mind set that their is potential for anything to happen. So, honestly, yes, in the same situation, I would have deployed gas too. The use of gas isn't a punishment, it is a very effective tool to clear out large areas quickly. Honestly, if the police would have just walked through your section of the crowd, you think they would have made it to the other side without serious injuries? It would be impossible. In a high strung situation like that, one bad dude in a crowd of one thousand can create a full scall riot.

It's nice that there were no lingering hard feelings this time, but it could have turned very bad very quickly. Instead of a few bumps and bruises someone could have been seriously injured, and for what? It's just not worth the potential for grievous injury to yourselves or to the police officers. Like Woody said, the riot police aren't looking to have a pleasant brawl, they're looking to quickly put down violence and disorder. It's a bad situation no matter how you look at it.

I'm sure that those guys would find a flaw in such plan when they left with a no parking sign sticking out of their humvee :P
And there were no violence and disorder before we were provoked, once they realised that, they backed down, and no charges were filed. They made a mistake, we all blew some steam and moved on...

Is it just me, or do your riot police sound REALLY innefectual? I mean, they had guys injured and a sign in their humvee? They had shields and tear gas against a bunch of hoodlums, no offense. If I had been part of that group o' cops, y'all wouldn't have gotten within ten feet. But seriously, I'm glad you weren't hurt and it's good to have you back.

Wilson, you've obviously never clashed with a riot, or seen one for that matter, usually the rioters outnumber the police 10:1, I'm sure the riot police did a fine job ;)

If you see riot police coming, that's usually your sign to "step away". No verbal warning needed, as, since that's their job, it's rather evident, lol. But, at least no one got seriously injured (or worse, killed). There's definitely been a lot worse (damn Canadians and their hockey, for example XD )

Wilson Edens
02-29-2008, 10:27 AM
Those damn Canadians. But no, I have never clashed with any form of orginized peace-keeping. And yes, when you are outnumbered ten-to-one it's hard to fight back. I just got the sense from the story that it was a few riot police fellows and a few, "rioters". It IS surprising that they managed to talk it out. Must be some pretty level-headed folks out thataways.

Awww... I was looking for a "Riot" smiley...

Closest I came: :snipersmilie: :LolLolLolLol: :M249SAW:

Hello everybody...

Heres a song that kinda pertains to Vidra's fight with the police... also pertains to any of you British soccer hooligans out there.

If I had a perfect day,
I would have it start this way,
Open up the fridge and have a tall boy,
Yeah.

Then I'd meet up with my friends,
Head out to the game again,
We don't even really care who wins.

Now excitement seems to grow,
When we're hangin' with the bro's,
When we're chillin' and we pound a case of Stroh's.
Now the game is cool to see,
You can "High 5" on TV,
Count the riot on the one, two, three.
Operation is in sight,
And the field is open wide,
When you break it then you know you're still alive.
If the cops don't make you pay,
And you make your getaway,
Then you know,
That's one fine day.

On that day before we're through,
We could torch a car or two,
Then have ourselves another tall boy,
Yeah.

Water hoses and batons,
That's the real game that's on,
I don't really give a shit who wins.

Now excitement seems to grow,
When we're hangin' with the bro's,
When we're chillin' and we pound a case of Stroh's.
Now the game is cool to see,
You can "High 5" on TV,
Count the riot on the one two three
Operation is in sight,
And the field is open wide,
When you break it then you know you're still alive.
If the cops don't make you pay,
And you make your getaway,
Then you know,
That's one fine day.

I believe it's my god-given right,
To destroy everything in my sight,
Cause it never gets dull, it never gets old,
The only thing it gets is more bold.
Drinkin', Fightin', goin to the game,
In our world it's a way to stay sane,
If your asking me,
To have it my way, I'd say that's,
One fine day.

Now excitement seems to grow,
When we're hangin' with the bro's,
When we're chillin' and we pound a case of Stroh's.
Now the game is cool to see,
You can "High 5" on TV,
Count the riot on the one, two, three.
Operation is in sight,
And the field is open wide,
When you break it then you know you're still alive.
If the cops don't make you pay,
And you make your getaway,
Then you know,
That's one fine day.
Yeah,
Then you know,
That it's a one fine day.

Now!
Hey,
Hey,
Hey Hey!

Well they were outnumbered, and most of saw action during previous wars...so I guess that we don't fit in regular hoodlums category.

Better song for rioting:

April 26th, 1992
There was a riot on the streets
Tell me where were you?
You were sittin' home watchin' your TV
While I was participating in some anarchy
First spot we hit it was the liquor store
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford
With red lights flashin', time to retire
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire
Next stop we hit, it was the music shop,
It only took one brick to make the window drop
Finally we got our own P.A.
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?
(Cuz' as long as I'm alive, I'ma live ill B)
When we returned to the pad to unload everything
It dawned on me that I need new home furnishings
So once again we filled the van until it was full
Since that day my livin' room's been much more comfortable
Cause everybody in the hood has had it up to here
It's getting harder, and harder, and harder each and every year
Some kids went in a store with their mother
I saw her when she came out she was gettin' some Pampers
They said it was for the black man
They said it was for the mexican
But not for the white man
But if you look at the streets, it wasn't about Rodney King
It's this fucked-up situation and these fucked-up police
It's about comin' up and stayin' on top
And became 187 on a mother fuckin' cop
It's ain't in the paper, it's on the wall
now she God spoke from all around

(Any unit, any unit...)
(Homicide, never doing no time)

Give me my share, my share.
Gimme my share, I want it.
Gimme my share, I need it now, I need it now.
My share.
A wicked one who doesn't wanna see me go.
Just gimme my share, I want it. Gimme my share.
But you don't want to give it to me,
you don't wanna see me go.
Gimme my share, I want it, Gimme my share.
But there is a wicked one.

(Units be advised of an attempt 211 to arrest now at 938 Temple, 9-3-8
Temple, many subjects with bats trying to get inside the CB's
house...they're trying to kill him)

Let it burn
Wanna let it burn, wanna let it burn
Wanna wanna let it burn
(I feel insane)
Riots on the streets if Miami
Whoa, riots on the streets of Chicago
On the streets of Long Beach
In San Francisco
Riots on the streets of Kansas City

Strangely enough, I knew quite a few truck drivers who regaled me with their tales of combat in 1990's Balkans..
