Depends on what you're in the mood for - do you want stuff that is up-tempo or more laid back? Preferred genres? Would you rather focus on quality vocals, quality instrumentation, or both? There are so many choices...... :) I'll just list my current favorites, things I've been listening to at work to pass the time spent on Excel spreadsheets:

Rise Today - Alter Bridge
Shockwave - Black Tide
some stuff of the new Disturbed album (specifically Indestructible, Criminal, and Inside the Fire)
Possum Kingdom - The Toadies
So Many People - Neurosonic
In This River - Black Label Society
Sauerkraut Polka - Tiroler Echo
Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin
Dirty Love - Frank Zappa
Hypnotize - System of a Down
Orgasm=Love - Psychostick (but you should get their entire CD anyways)
Reload - Rob Zombie
Shout at the Devil - Mötley Crüe
Vermilion, Pt. 2 - Slipknot
some Richard Pryor sketches
Get It On - Bill Chase
Beulah Witch - Buddy Rich Big Band (the new tribute version with Matt Sorum playing drums)
Tangerine - Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass
Sway - Michael Bublé
Moanin' - Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers
The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg - Iron Maiden

I like the newer genres of Rock, like alternative, punk, screamo, etc.
I also like some Rap, and Hip Hop, I don't search on Youtube for like Rap songs, because they always have so much damn "featuring -" and crap like that.

I'm mainly a rock & alternative type. I find most of my music through listening to KROQ, best radio station serving Los Angeles: http://www.kroq-data.com/music/index.asp Check out the most played & requested for some of the more popular songs & get previews of them.

Bands like Linkin Park, Muse, Paramore, AFI, Pennywise, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Rise Against are all artists that I take to listening.

Get some dub.
Awsome genre. Its more easy listnening sort of music.

Sort of like reggae but different.

Good examples of dub are the bands: The Black seeds, Kora. They are are both NZ bands. Dont know if you could find them to download though.

Dub ftw.

Other bands you may want to look at in the dub/reggae/ska genres:
Dub Is A Weapon
Ruder Than You
Long Beach Dub All-stars
Voodoo Glow Skulls
Shakedown
Rudiments
Fishbone

Just check out Jamaican music styles in general (meaning ska, rocksteady, reggae, and dub). It's all pretty awesome.

The only Jamaican band I'm familiar with is Skindred, and they are pretty good too. Kind of a reggae/metal fusion sound.

Though I also love, Manowar, Bullet for my Valentine, Velvet Revolver, Böhse Onkelz, Texas, Linkin Park, and many many more..

For those who can understand pieces of German and of course english, try out J.B.O.
