1. Larger Membrane:
Larger cell, less likely to be attacted by carnivorous cells, but slower to move
2. Harder Membrane:
We gain a cell wall. Harder to eat us, but we move much, much slower.
3. Flagellum:
Little hair-like strands on the outer part of our cell that make us go vroom very fast, and harder to catch.

Our cell so far: Over simplified to a nucleus and a membrane, but I'm not going for science here ;)

Ok. It tied, but harder membrane got the most votes first, so it wins!

[Scenario, upgrade options, and new cell incoming]

Uh oh! Our slower-moving nature has attracted us some attention. As we were making our way slowly along the ocean floor, a swarm of smaller cells has attacked us! They can't break through our armor with just them, but we need to do something.

1. Stop moving and hope they go away.
2. Divert all our energies to getting the hell out
3. Shed our new armor and hope it distracted them. This will leave us vulnerable until we can regenerate a new one, however.

Upgrade Options:
A. Spikes for our shell:
We are much more deadly to attack, because the attacking cells membranes will likely be punctured by our spikes.
B. Chloroplast:
We can make food from sunlight, allowing us to move slower.
C. Structured Pseudopods:
Right now as we move, we squish some of our membrane forward, and then squish the rest of our cell into that space, rinse and repeat. This upgrade will give us primitive structures that will allow us to move faster and with less energy.

Well lets see. we got that shell so stay still and see if those things go away. the more then likely will when they see they cant get into the shell.

I think maybe spikes might be a good idea. some spikes can become poisonous later =D
but then again thsoe little primitive feet sound good too...

You now have spikes.

animals that attempt to mess with you get a rude awakening as the spikes prevent them from eating you without caution.

As you slowly scurry across the ground you continuously bump into things. lack of sensors are the cause of this. your slow movement and spikey defenses ensure there is no problem getting eaten however there is a problem finding food. your slow nature keeps you from catching any pray however plant food is abundant in the area.

what do you want to do? (evolve up to two )

Eyes, flagellum, jet organ *think squids*, plant eating organs (will make animal into omnivore),

Well, I'm back. +1 points for the spore, the game was on a Spore forum ;)

I vote for eyes. (May I commandeer the game after this? Or do you want to?

i prefer your graphics over the spore graphics so of course!!

and i agree with the eyes. i also think a Jet Organ will help out when it comes to moving.

Ok, sounds like eyes it is! And maybe I'll streamline the spikes a little bit to get that extra ounce of speed out of him...

There he is! He has a hard outer cell wall, with a mushy center. As he moves, water flows through his mouth. The squishy center contracts, and sends the water jetting out his back-end. :air:

The spikes should keep away most things. The 'eyes' are very primitive, and can detect the infrared spectrum, AKA heat vision.

It's time to think about numbers...A colony of cells? A pack? A fleet? How should they group together? Like coral, making large structures? Migratory? You come up with ideas, then we shall vote!
