Final Fantasy XIII [Archive]

Haven't had time to play it that much yet, only to chapter 3, but it playes really well and looks absolutely fabulous! The voice acting is slightly annoying on some characters, but that's Japanese RPGs for you ;)

Anyone else playing?

Bleh, I only played VII (I think?), X, and X2. Don't really like the other ones.

I wish I had a PS3, I'd be all over FFXIII.

It's a shame that decided to not make it for the PC. :(

Question is the battle system like 12 or is it random

It is rather more like XII in that you can see the enemies walking around and even evade them sometimes, but you enter a combat arena when you touch the enemies and don't stay in the open world as it was in XII.
Another great innovation concerning combat is that when you die, you may restart the combat instead of starting from the latest save. You even get to tweak your equipment before going into the fight again ;)

Its ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! One of the best games I've played this year for sure, not a good enough story to beat Uncharted 2 though, but the graphics and gameplay are solid, and its stability on the PS3 is a welcome from other multi-system games that run like shit.

Vanille kinda pisses me off, but Lightning makes me lesbo-spaz out hardcore so it equals out.

Yep, Vanille is way past annoying and Light is absolutely great! I love hear weapon too...would want to have one of these myself ^^

Yes, 7 is that low. While it WAS revolutionary, it didn't age well and is almost unplayable now. 6 is far more playable today than 7 is.

8 will be an unpopular choice as the best, but it's my favorite still. I've beaten it around 10 times and never get tired of it. None of the others have that kind of re-playability for me.

11 shouldn't even have a number. call it Final Fantasy Online if you must, but it was a very poor MMORPG and not worthy of being numbered within the series.

Just because a game hasn't 'endured' in terms of playability over several years isn't something I feel should be held against it. I mean, are you rating 12 ahead of 7 because it was a better gaming experience at the time of release (imo how a game should be judged), or does 12 have the edge over 7 here simply because 7 is old and the graphics are much worse?

I personally find FF7 to be perfectly playable now.

Definitely agree with the point about 11 though :facepalm:

That was FF9. I like 9 myself.

Also FF13's cinematics look amazing! Leveling system threw me for a loop for a bit but figured that out pretty quick :D

i'm not a fan of this new ATB battle system they brought in for final fantasy x-2 onwards, i prefer having the time to think about my moves.

however i'm still enjoying it, the chocobo chick in the black guys hair is adoreable :P

Hope is a pain in the ass though, reminds me of tidus too much for me to like him.

For me the order would be:

VII, VIII, IX, XII, X, X-2

XI is not a Final Fantasy game for me, and I haven't played the other parts.
I'm not giving XIII a rating before I complete it.
