Welcome everyone to Arcadian Empire's LIVE coverage of the Legion-NPO Derby between Arcadia RFC (of Arcadian Empire) and Northern Virginia FC (of Northern Virginia)
---
9:46 (GMT +2)
Welcome everyone to the G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, we have a good crowd of around 2 000 so far in this I believe 50 000 seater stadium. Looking outside, well it's night however the Stadium is well-lit for tonight's match which starts in around 2 hours time, the local time here is 3:46am, however around 5:30am we will start kick-off here. The sky is clear, I can see the moon, we'll be in for a fantastic night here. It's a bit chilly, it's 65 degrees Farenheit here, around 20 degrees Celsius right now...this could all change in the hours to come.
10:11
The game starts off at 11:30am sharp on GMT +2 time...but here in Northern Virginia, ruled by NPO's very own SeasonsOfLove, it is not 11:30am...however it'll be good viewing for Arcadian's who will see this at around 10-11am live and anyone else in the European Continent. It is now 4:12am, it'll start off at 5:30am, and this'll be a Sunrise game perhaps.
It's somewhat humourous because I'm used to "Sunset" games, because I think the sunset and the orange hue it gives is a wonderful element you can add to football. But now, well, it's a Sunrise game. Never played a game at Sunrise before, should be an interesting experience.
Arcadia RFC have been training since midnight, I believe they just stopped training over an hour ago, and I can confirm they are at the stadium. Northern Virginia have been secretive in their demeanor, not really sure what has been going on.
10:15
I've been told that Sunrise is 5:44am, it is 4:14 now, an hour and a half until that happens. The 50 000 or so seater has started to fill up, I estimate that the Arcadia supporters area is still somewhat empty, I expect that to rise in the next hour or so, the fans are starting to fill up the area, I would say that there is around 6 000 in the stadium now.
I have been told that we will here the Arcadian National Anthem, the Legion Anthem, the NPO Anthem and the Northern Virginia National Anthem before the match. A pompous welcome for this Legion-NPO Derby of football.
10:30
The stadium is filling up now, the Arcadian supporters and Northern Virginia supporters sections are filled with the fans. Funny, 60 minutes from the start they are chanting, God knows how long they'll go on for before their breath runs out.
10:45
The match starts off here in just over 45 minutes, I have just heard both teams are in the stadium. A good crowd has arrived, I believe we have around 16 000 in the stadium now. I can see the first twilights of the day now, it is still 62-degrees Farenheit or around 20-degrees Celsius or Centigrade, not sure which one.
The pitch is abit wet, due to the thunderstorms we had here...however I hear the irrigation is fantastic here at the Stadium and it is mildly wet probably by now. It hasn't rained in the last 8 hours or so, it's mostly cloudy here and the players are just starting to come out now for their last training session, a 20-25 minute stretching session before the game starts.
11:00
Half-an-hour until kickoff at the First Ever Legion-NPO Derby. This truely is a huge spectacle, the fans are filling up now to see their favourite stars play...around 32 000 in the stadium now. The stadium is all-seater of course, and some of it is under-cover, but that's not needed, as it's not raining.
Every player on the pitch now, Goalkeeper for Arcadia RFC Simone Antonellini is having some shot practice with Pio Stovani. Then for the other team, I can see Julias Saunders, easily one of the most skilled players on the NPO side having some header practice with his teammates.
Only 30 minutes now...it's getting exciting.
11:15
It's almost starting now, the players have just gone back to the dressing rooms and the crowd is all here, this house is packed, 50 000 fans here at the G. Richard Pfeitzner stadium, I can tell you that Arcadia RFC have decided to change their kit at the last second to a red shirt with black pants, to distinguish themselves from the Northern Virginia players who wear an all-blue kit.
I can tell you around 15 000 fans are here in red or purple (remember they are playing for the Legion), supporting Arcadia and the rest, 35 000 or so are in blue or red, supporting Northern Virginia and/or NPO. There may be a colour-clash as Arcadia's colour is red, and so is NPO's colour...but I believe most Arcadian fans were sensible to bring with them at least one-purple garment to show Legion support.
11:30
The match is underway now...we've just heard the anthems...I'll watch the match now, updates every 15 minutes.
11:45
Arcadia RFC has started the first fifteen minutes very cool...controlled, a good passing movement so far. It's good passing football by both teams, both teams are passing well with a slow build-up. Arcadia are being pushed into their own half, however it is on purpose as they are being cautious and defencive.
The first chance in the match came just over a minute ago when Arcadian defender Galtem Aprile flicked a header which flew high over the bar.
12:00
Northern Virginia have fought back to make this a midfieldy battle, restricting teams to even having a sight of goal. Good football by both teams, I'd say it's pretty scrappy myself...but nevertheless, a very defencive play by both teams. The referee for this match is Luke Bribe, a Cyber Cup referee, I would say he's not very skillful and not very strict...there have been some dubious fouls so far...but all were "no foul".
We'll see what happens as the game progresses, but this looks like it'll go back 0-0 at half-time.
12:15
The referee has signalled 2 minutes of stoppage time. Again I shall say that the match sponsor for this game is GAME, go to GAME and get all your PS3 GAMEs, XBOX GAMEs, PC GAMEs and whatnot from GAME, the match sponsor.
The last 15 minutes or so have been very defencive, no chances at all for any teams...there have been many throw-ins however. If this game continues like this, we'll never see a goal...and it'll send home both teams, fairly unhappy.
It's 6:15am now...non-football supporters may be waking up now and turning on the teles to watch this epic clash. There will be a 15 minute break for half-time, then we shall resume the second half.
The Score here at the G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium after 45 minutes, at half time is Arcadia RFC 0, Norther Virginia FC 0.
Stay tuned, you are watching the Legion-NPO Derby.
---
12:30
We've just gotten word of the statistics of the first half...Northern Virginia had 42% possession to Arcadia RFC's 58%, one chance for Arcadia to Virginia's nil and no goals for each.
We'll start the second half now.
12:45
15 minutes into the second half, very midfieldy still and no goals to seperate either side.
1:00
It is 7am now, most workers are getting up but we are still here, scoreless. The last 15 minutes have been the most action packed, at around 12:53, or 6:53am local time, Hank Joyce, from Virginia was injured after tripping over his shoelace...bad thing he was replaced immediately by Cortez McClain.
Two minutes later in the 70th minute, Wilson Dominguez for NPO tried a good low shot, it would've gone in if it wasn't wide. Then in the 72nd, the first save of the match, a leg save after Marty Ware tried a diving header...but it was again, saved by Simone Antonelli's leg, a reflex save. I guess this is where match practice comes in.
1:15
The referee has signalled 3 minutes of stoppage time but they are all over and done with. We finish the night as they started, level pegging, and I believe both teams will feel they would and should have gotten something out of it. Possession evened up, NPO's 47% to Legion's 53% and 2-1 in the chances department. But it all doesn't matter now because it's goals that count.
Final score here: Legion 0, NPO 0.
