A Legion / CCC Announcement |
|
Feb 23, 2012 - 9:21 AM - by Regent Pancras
|
THE TREATY OF CONSTANTINE THE GREAT
Preamble
The Legion and The Christian Coalition of Countries have demonstrated friendship and goodwill towards one another for some time. In doing so it is recognised that each alliance has a publicly stated policy of non-aggression without provocation. In this spirit of friendship and mutual values this treaty is written.
Article One: Sovereignty and Religious Understanding
Both of the signatory alliances and their respective member nations recognize and will respect each other's sovereignty and political independence. While the CCC is an alliance whose membership follows the Christian Faith, The Legion is a secular alliance whose membership is drawn from all faiths, and from none. The membership of both alliances will respect these differences.
Article Two: Peaceful co-operation
The signatories will develop good co-operation between them to ensure lasting security. They will refrain from espionage and the threat or use of force against each other and will settle all disputes between them by peaceful diplomatic means. Both signatory alliances shall be resolute in their insistence that their respective members remain polite and civil to each other at all times, especially in public forums and other public venues.
Article Three: Communication
In signing these protocols, both signatory alliances recognize that communication and Intelligence is the foundation for a strong and enduring relationship and that there is mutual benefit for both alliances when open communication and intelligence between them is maintained. To that end, both signatory alliances agree to productive two-way inter-alliance communication and the sharing of intelligence.
Article Four: Defense
This Provision hereby dictates that under any circumstances if either of the undersigned finds itself attacked by a foreign power, the opposite signatory to this agreement is, upon request, encouraged to join in war against the foreign aggressor. The attacked signatory of this agreement maintains the right to waive such assistance.
Article Five: Cancellation
Either signatory alliance may terminate this compact at any time by providing the other signatory alliance with a 48 hour notice of intent to terminate.

Sixth Anniversary of the Legion |
|
Jan 31, 2012 - 5:29 AM - by Alexander Kerensky

Quote:
The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed:
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

Quote:
Since creation, the Legion has faced countless instances of adversity. From wars, to internal strife to downright carelessness and incompetence. For every answer or safeguard an Alliance has, most of them are first hand lessons from the Legion. It is not our place, nor our directive to seek acknowledgment nor do we seek reward for the services we had offered, because since July 31st 2006, the countless men and women fortunate to be called Legionnaires have driven for but one thing; loyalty.
No Alliance can test nor can they doubt the loyalty Legionnaires feel towards our home. Many cannot feel the same feeling many of us thought during the dreadful nights more than a year ago, and even fewer could understand such feelings. To be a Legionnaire is to be different from the rest, in the end we are all human but beyond that we part ways. To each his or her own, but to each Legionnaire comes the values of strength, honor and self-sacrifice.
Numbers beyond count have sacrificed so much for the Legion, and the Legion has thanked them by doing the only thing no others can do. And that is survive.
The Legion has not survived because of luck or because of mercy, we have survived because of loyalty, the willingness and ability to sacrifice. The Legion is an idea in a world of similarities, it is a different but strong idea, and when the people entrusted with guiding the Legion failed and abandoned their duty, they also abandoned their future loyalties. But a few others refused such actions, and set aside themselves for the greater good. How many can claim such in the same? And how many can claim by numbers they may not be strong, but by the heart and soul of any Alliance, the members, can they claim to be unbreakable? None.

The Legion reaching six years old says much about our character, the fact we have existed enough to celebrate such grandeur is praise beyond words. Our continued survival is a tribute to our skill, when so many other alliances have faltered, great and small. Our longevity could be attributed to our physicality and strength, perhaps the allies we have made, perhaps the respect we command or maybe we just got lucky. The truth is it is the people we call our own that have brought about this grand milestone. Not everyman posses every attribute, however we posses every attribute in our sum due to the individual qualities of our parts. Whether it be dedication, work ethic, ideas, activity or unshaken loyalty by just flying The Legion flag day in and day out, the qualities of our individuals means that as a whole, we lack nothing and do not want for anything.
As we advance toward the future we must take stock of our rich history and the tapestry of events that makes us who we are. We must advance, continuing to use what has worked so well for us these past years, and we must never let that go. For to do so as a crime as our history is the product of thousands of people, and it is not the right of any one man or any current legionnaire member list to throw away. Without clinging and standing by our past and what we stand for, we have no need to celebrate our birthday, let alone a right to fly the eagle and call ourselves Legionnaires. But whilst we embrace our past we must also embrace the lessons we have learned from it. We would be fools to ignore lessons that we learned in such a harsh manner and we must vow never to repeat those.
For the members of the Legion who have served along side us in government, as directors, or simply in the general membership it is time we recognize what has been a lifetime of service with our new "Ich Dien Lifetime Award". Four (in some cases even more!) years of service to the Legion is something everyone should strive for and assure our continued success as an alliance.

A couple of the significant highlights this past year were the introduction of two new Hall of Fame members Watcher and Arcadian Empire respectively. On the War front this little conflict simply known as the Tetris/Legion war raged on prior to the current winter war, that we not only started, but won!
We welcome our friends who have become family to gather with us today as we celebrate six years of the Legion.

Alexander Kerensky - Imperator
Killer04 - Proconsul
Roddney McCay - Minister of Economics
Regent Pancras - Minister of Foreign Affairs
Tzar Rob - Minister of Defence
DanDesade - Minister of Internal Affairs

*A special thanks to the former members of the Legion that many of these words have been barrowed from: Sinatra, HB, PB, Lincongrad, and Melidan
